About Local Pro Finder

Local Pro Finder is an independent publisher of home-repair cost data for the United States. We exist to solve a frustrating, expensive problem: it's surprisingly hard to know what a fair price is for a plumber, electrician, HVAC technician, or handyman in your area before the quotes start arriving.

How our cost data is built

Every figure on this site is computed the same way, from public data:

Labor rates. We start from the Bureau of Labor Statistics OEWS national mean hourly wage for each trade's occupation code (for example, SOC 47-2152 for plumbers).
Contractor markup. We apply the standard contractor rack-rate markup used in NAHB industry surveys to convert a wage into a billed hourly rate.
Regional adjustment. Rates are adjusted by the MERIC state cost-of-living composite, so a repair in San Francisco is not priced like one in Wichita.
Materials. Project materials costs are anchored on the 2024 NAHB Construction Cost Survey, with the same regional adjustment.
Geography. City and ZIP pages follow US Census place and ZCTA geography.

What we are not

We do not perform repairs, we do not sell leads, and we do not accept payment from contractors. Cost figures are estimates for budgeting and quote sanity-checking only — always get a written quote from a licensed, insured local contractor before any work begins.
